THE WORK

Some patterns keep coming back.

This is the part of the Codex that deals with the ones that do. Not with judgment. Not with willpower. With awareness, breath, and a system that actually works.

Start Here

I built this for myself first

There were patterns in my life I couldn’t seem to shift. I’d tried willpower. I’d tried ignoring them. Neither worked for long.

What I needed was a way to actually understand what was driving the pattern — not just stop the behaviour on the surface, but get underneath it. See what it was doing for me. And then replace it with something real.

That’s what this page is. It’s the part of the Codex I use when something keeps coming back that I don’t want anymore. It works by doing three things — observing the pattern clearly, collapsing it through breath and awareness, and rebuilding something new in its place.

UNDERSTAND THIS FIRST

Every pattern is doing something for you

This is the part most people skip. They try to stop the behaviour without understanding why it’s there in the first place.

Every pattern — no matter how destructive it looks from the outside — is meeting a need. It might be giving you escape. Relief. A boost. A connection. Something

Until you identify what it’s actually doing for you, you can’t replace it. You can only suppress it — and suppressed patterns always come back.

The Codex approach is different. You start by getting honest about what the pattern is giving you. Then you find a way to get that same thing — without the cost.

THE METHOD

Observe. Collapse. Rebuild.

This is the core of the pattern work. Three steps. Done slowly and honestly they work. Here is how each one actually works in practice.

WHEN I WANT TO RUN

The Presence Practice

When I notice I want to escape — I stop. I breathe in for 4 counts and say to myself: I am here. I hold for 4. I breathe out for 8 and say: I release the need to run. I repeat that three times. Then I ask — what is actually here right now? I sit with that for sixty seconds before I do anything else.

Breath pattern: 4 — 4 — 8

Collapse phrase: "This is a craving for escape."

New harmonic: Presence

WHEN EMPTINESS ARRIVES

The Curiosity Practice

When I notice boredom pulling me toward the pattern — I stop. I breathe in for 4 and say: I am open. Hold for 4. Out for 8: I release the need to fill this. Three rounds. Then I ask myself one genuine question about something that interests me. I follow that thread instead.

Breath pattern: 4 — 4 — 8

Collapse phrase: "This is a loop of distraction."

New harmonic: Curiosity

WHEN I FEEL LOW

The Enough Practice

When I feel knocked down and want a fast lift — I stop. I breathe in for 4 and say: I am whole. Hold for 4. Out for 8: I release the need to fix myself. Three rounds. Then I do one small thing I know is good for me. Water. A walk. Fresh air. I build from there — not from the pattern.

Breath pattern: 4 — 4 — 8

Collapse phrase: “This is a loop of self-rejection.”

New harmonic: Self-acceptance

WHEN I WANT TO FEEL CLOSER

The Presence Practice

When I want to use before sex — I stop. I breathe in for 4 and say: I am present. Hold for 4. Out for 8: I release the need to enhance this. Three rounds. Then I ask — what would genuine closeness feel like right now without anything added? I move toward that instead.

Breath pattern: 4 — 4 — 8

Collapse phrase: "This is a loop of performance."

New harmonic: Connection
